On Tuesday April 4, 2017, our son Bear had an appointment with an out-of-state Gastroenterologist after our pediatrician found some discrepancies in his lab work that continued to raise concern.
As we walked through the doors of Dallas Children’s Medical Center, I felt as though we abruptly entered into another life. There were so many beautiful families that visited the hospital routinely, and I quickly realized that this could be our new normal. During our stay, I regularly walked the halls and prayed for the other Moms and their families.
Thankfully, we received wonderful news from the doctor, and as we made our way back home, we praised God through the tears because we were so grateful for Bear’s health. Even so, I couldn’t shake the feeling I had abandoned the other Moms at the hospital, so I continued to pray for them from home.
Early the next morning, as I rocked Bear, I continued to praise God for our good news. It was at that very moment God planted the seed for MOMS. I heard the calling, “Go bless, encourage, and pray for these Moms.” So I did. Or we did, I should say because within two weeks we had a working team filled with women ready to serve.
Today, MOMS is a 100% non-profit organization with over 20 full-time volunteers dedicated to serving Champion Moms in our community.
